Taking Cell Salts
If you have never taken cell salts (aka tissue salts, Schuessler salts) before, you may want to consider taking Jackson's 12 in 1 Cell Salt Combination first. It is an overall tonic to help naturally improve energy levels and mineral absorption. If you respond well to it then you can start to explore the individual cell salts #1 - 12 for more specific concerns. If you are certain about which particular individual salt you wish to take, then you will be able to follow the directions on the bottle for the standard approach to cell salt dosing.

Short answer: The ideal would be to take one cell salt at a time, but it is generally safe to combine and take multiple tissue cell salts.
Long answer: We recommend one at a time so it’s easier for you to assess its results and so you can be more sure of what is helping and what is not. Start with one cell salt that matches your main complaint. Take it for 1-2 weeks and assess how it’s going before adding another cell salt.
- Go slowly. Start with one cell salt (like an overall one like Jackson's 12 in 1) and see how it goes.
- Reduce the dose. Take 2 pellets instead of 4.
- Dissolve dose in water. Stir well in a small amount of water (50 ml) before drinking. Hold liquid in mouth for 15-30 seconds before swallowing.
- Give enough time for absorption. Wait 15 minutes before and after dissolving in mouth before eating or drinking. Water is fine 5 minutes after or right before taking.
- Use a pure cell salt brand. If you are sensitive there is a good chance you could react to lactose and the other fillers and additives in other cell salt brands. Jackson's Mineral Salts is proud to be the only Certified Vegan (vegan.org) Schuessler Cell Salt brand in the world.
For best results the cell salts should be taken at least 20 minutes before or after food or strong flavoured fluids. If this is difficult to remember then you can take them 5-10 minutes before or after food.
Remember to dissolve the pellets under the tongue. The salts are absorbed sublingually and you need to give enough time for them to dissolve completely before ingesting anything further.
Short answer: Yes and no. It depends on your tolerance to caffeine. Anything (like coffee) that causes your nervous system to overreact (shaking hands, racing heart, racing thoughts, etc.) should be avoided whenever possible. This could cause a counteraction. Anything that overwhelms your nervous system can counteract the remedy. Dental procedures, anesthetic, and other stimulants are common examples. If you have one cup of coffee in the morning and that's been your routine for years, then there is usually no problem. If your doctor has advised you stay away from caffeine, then continue to do that.
If you happen to counteract the cell salt, simply repeat the cell salt under more ideal conditions. If you regularly counteract the salt, consider a change in habits or routine to optimize results.
Long answer: see our full blog article here.
As with all homeopathic remedies, you can stop taking cell salts when your symptoms improve and diminish. If your symptoms return you can take again as before. If you are taking it as a daily supplemental support, stop taking when your levels are normal again and consider taking weekly breaks. For example, take 5 days on (Mon-Fri), 2 days off (Sat-Sun). You can stop taking at any time since it is safe to stop taking suddenly.
We recommend using the lid of the bottle and gently shaking or tapping the bottle to get a couple pellets into the cap. Then you can simply empty the lid into your mouth and dissolve the pellets under your tongue.
Ingredients
Jackson’s Cell Salts are made in small batches according to the Homoepathic Pharmacopiea of the United States (HPUS).
The HPUS establishes standards to ensure the pharmaceutical quality and safety of homeopathic remedies. It an extensive reference works of homeopathic remedies and their related analytical and manufacturing techniques.
Our cell salts are made by a reputable homeopathic manufacturer. We package our remedies in traditional amber glass bottles to preserve the maximum potency of the salts and to make a stand against single-use plastics.
Sucrose pellets: Did you know not all sugar is vegan? Our sucrose pellets are NOT filtered with bone char like most cane sugar is.
Lactose-free: Lactose is a common compounding ingredient in conventional and homeopathic pharmacies alike. We made a conscious decision to NOT use lactose at all in the processing, manufacturing, and in the final product when we launched Jackson’s Cell Salts.
No animal testing: None of our products are tested on animals, ever.
Taking cell salts is different from taking a traditional vitamin or supplement. The goal is NOT to supplement or physically replace mineral levels in the body. The goal when taking cell salts is to stimulate the body to regulate those levels of absorption itself.
Jackson’s Cell Salts are in a 6x potency. At this time, we do not offer cell salts in other strengths like 12x, 30x. 6x was viewed by Dr. Schuessler as the most readily assimilated potency to give cell salts in and is a good potency for any self-prescriber or at home user.
Our pellets are very small. Each amber glass bottle of Jackson’s Cell Salts contains at least 500 pellets and has 20-22g of pellets per bottle. Doing the math, that means each pellet contains approximately 40-44mg of sugar. How small is that? It's 1/105 of a teaspoon of sugar (4.2g).
We chose sucrose as the base for our cell salts because it is as shelf stable as lactose but is clean, traceable, and plant-based. Individuals with allergies or following lactose-free diets can safely use our cell salts.
Bottle and Packaging
Here at Jackson's we use traditional amber glass bottles to package our lactose free cell salts. Amber glass blocks almost all UV light which can degrade the cell salt potency (ie strength), thus making it the best choice for optimum protection against damaging UV light. Amber glass is also impermeable and inert, making it ideal for sensitive homeopathic remedies like tissue cell salts. Unlike plastics, there is no potential leaching of the product material into the salts. There is a reason that amber glass bottles are the preferred storage containers of homeopaths, naturopaths, and herbalists alike! In addition, if recycled properly, glass is able to be completely recycled into more glass and it takes less energy to break down than plastic.
Yes, as much as possible. We take our recycling seriously and are always looking for ways to improve.
We use amber glass bottles, which are recyclable. The cap is hard plastic, which may or may not be recyclable where you are. In British Columbia, hard plastic lids can be taken to a recycle depot. The safety seal is not recyclable for the most part. Our shipping boxes are recyclable. The packing peanuts are made from corn and are therefore compostable. We wrap our glass bottles in cardboard which can be put in your paper recycle or compost bin. We would recommend removing the small amount of tape to reduce contamination of the paper recycling stream.
While we currently use clear tape for our packaging, we are looking at ways to replace this with a paper tape that is also recyclable. Apparently not all tape is created equal. So we're doing our research and checking our budget to see what we can do to make a greater impact. If you have improvement suggestions, we would love to hear them.
Jackson's cell salts do not contain any anti-caking agents or additives so from time to time it is normal for them to slightly stick to the bottom. To loosen the pellets before dispensing, with the bottle fully closed, lightly tap the lid of the bottle on a hard surface or on the palm of your hand. That will loosen them and enable easier dispensing and dosing.
Our products are licensed according to Health Canada regulations and the DIN-HM is the unique identifier for each product.
"Homeopathic medicines are treated differently under the NHP (Natural Health Products) Regulations because they can contain or be manufactured from substances that are not otherwise regulated under the NHP Regulations.
The unique designation for homeopathic medicines will help consumers identify the product as a homeopathic medicine. While similar to the requirements for NHPs, these products also have to meet specific Good Manufacturing Practices and unique standards of evidence."Source
